Aathira Mohan’s journey starts from a corporate office in Bangalore, where she thought life was all about having a string of desk jobs and deadlines. But one day, nothing could have prepared her for what was about to change her life. She had a meeting with her boss where she agreed to paint a wall for the office. She was there for hours, holding a paintbrush, when she realized something amazing. She could stand, work, and create for six hours nonstop, while six minutes at a desk would be a nightmare. That is when she decided she had had enough of her life.
However, she quit her job and decided to pursue her passion for art by painting walls and thereby gradually establishing herself as an artist. Though just 21, she started her own media production company with the hope that her passion could be matched with financial freedom. However, the pandemic struck, and there was no work or projects as everything turned into stress for an artist whose passion was her art. Now, this artist realized that passion was not enough and that financial freedom was necessary for happiness in her occupation.
She moved to her hometown of Kochi to pursue another passion dubbed GVQ Time Café. She researched the industry to grasp its dynamics. Additionally, she gained experience as a waitress to appreciate the details of the industry. Then, she assembled a café that would have suited her as a customer—a place with character, uniqueness, and experiences. With the backing of her family, friends, and investors, she rooted herself in a place where creativity meets commerce.
Currently, Aathira chooses projects she is passionate about, without the need of financial necessity. It indeed was a journey of bravery, grit, and instinct. Right from painting walls to designing experiences that can get people together, Aathira Mohan exemplifies how with passion, perseverance, and the will to take risks, a life of significance and happiness can be achieved.
