At 41, Mrs Lathifa Sirajudheen’s journey is a story of grit, dedication, and breaking barriers. Born into a conservative Muslim family, she embraced her roles as a mother, daughter-in-law, and homemaker with unwavering commitment. With two children and two caesarean operations behind her, the world of sports seemed distant until 2017, when curiosity and determination drew her to the gym.
What began as simple fitness soon transformed into a passion. Lathifa followed a strict daily regimen, balancing household responsibilities and family duties while building strength and resilience. Her dedication paid off in 2024 when she stepped into the world of powerlifting, lifting heavy weights and challenging stereotypes. That year, she earned three Strong Women Awards, a gold medal in South India, and numerous accolades at district and state-level competitions—21 golds in the master category and three silvers in the senior category.
Her journey reached new heights when the World Raw Powerlifting Federation selected her to represent India at the Asian Championship 2025 in Vietnam. Against fierce competition, Lathifa lifted her way to victory, winning two gold medals for her country, a historic achievement that honoured her hard work, discipline, and indomitable spirit.
For Lathifa, family was never a barrier; it was her foundation. She believes every woman can balance athletic pursuits with family responsibilities, proving that strength is not just in muscles but in courage, resilience, and the ability to rise above expectations.
Mrs Lathifa Sirajudheen is not just an athlete; she is an inspiration, a living testament to the fact that determination, discipline, and dreams know no age or boundaries.
