For as long as she can remember, Spandana Kolagani has looked up at the sky with wonder. She never dreamed of a title, not “pilot” or “cabin crew,” only of being part of that vast blue world above the clouds.
Born and raised in a small town, her dreams often felt bigger than her surroundings. After school, she pursued a Diploma in Aviation and Airhostess Training, moving to Hyderabad with her mother, carrying both ambition and hope. At just 19, while training, she worked at Avasa Hotels as a Guest Relations Executive, learning discipline, patience, and poise.
Her aviation journey began with one of the country’s leading airlines, but long hours forced her to step away. Rejections followed from some of the most popular international airlines, each one testing her spirit but never breaking it. In 2015, after months of preparation, she finally earned her wings with a well-known Indian airline as cabin crew. Training in Delhi was intense, yet Spandana thrived, winning Best Service Knowledge and later becoming Lead Crew. Once, when smoke filled the cabin midair, her calm courage ensured passengers’ safety, a moment that defined her strength.
Years later, she joined Qatar Airways as International Cabin Crew. Life abroad brought challenges such as loneliness, fatigue, and the pandemic’s uncertainty, but her resolve stayed unshaken. Then came a flight to Melbourne that reignited her dream, not just to serve the skies but to fly them.
With her husband’s support, she began pilot training in Hyderabad and Serbia. Her first solo flight was a quiet triumph, proof that perseverance truly soars.
From serving passengers to steering aircraft, Spandana’s journey isn’t just about reaching the skies, it’s about earning them, one fearless flight at a time.
