In the small town of Moodbidri, where dreams often fade under the weight of hardship, a young girl chose to lift more than just iron; she lifted her life. This is the story of Monisha, a 20-year-old professional weightlifter from Karnataka, whose journey from loss to triumph inspires every soul that dares to rise.
The clang of metal echoes through a gym in Bengaluru. Each lift, each drop, marks her rhythm of resilience. Among those weights stands Monisha, a young woman whose strength was shaped not by comfort, but by pain.
Her story began at Alva’s PU College, Moodbidri, where she faced the hardest chapter of her life. After losing her mother, she struggled financially, with no family support to lean on. Yet, she found her identity in sports — a place where she could fight, focus, and rebuild.
But life wasn’t kind. Injuries tested her body; judgement and cruelty tested her spirit. People whispered that she had no one to stand by her, and for a moment, she believed them. She thought of giving up, choosing work over weightlifting, to care for her 10-year-old brother.
Then came two guiding lights — a coach who believed in her strength and a friend who believed in her soul. With their support, Monisha rose again.
In 2025, she made history, winning Senior and Junior Women’s Gold in the 58kg category with a total of 165kg (70kg snatch, 95kg clean and jerk), and the title of Junior Best Lifter.
Every medal she holds carries the weight of her past and the glow of her will. Her message is simple:
“Believe in your mindset. Setbacks come with pain; do with pain, win with pain. One day, that pain will make you stand taller than ever.”
