In a world where speed is often celebrated in youth, Dr Bani Yadav chose a different road. At 43, when most women are told to slow down, she pressed the accelerator on her long-delayed dream.
Born in Lucknow and raised in Delhi, Bani’s love for driving began at 13. But like many women, life asked her to pause—marriage, children, responsibilities. For decades, her passion idled quietly in the background. Until one day, with the support of her husband and grown children, she decided it was time.
Her first race came in 2013 at the Jaipur Speed Sprint, where she won endurance rallies in the ladies’ class. She went on to be crowned the fastest woman driver and 2000cc class winner in the Asia Pacific Rally Cup, part of the Indian Rally Championship.
The road wasn’t smooth. A severe spinal injury, two surgeries, and months of recovery could have ended her career before it truly began. Instead, she came back stronger, proving that grit is greater than pain.
Today, Dr Bani Yadav is more than a rally driver. She is a mother, an advocate for women in motorsport, and a living reminder that dreams don’t come with an expiry date. Her journey tells us one thing with certainty: it is never too late to start, and it is always too early to give up.
