The boy whose heart beats for bird: The story of Siddhanth

The forest was alive with whispers. Tiny wings slicing through the air, calls echoing from branch to branch. Amidst it all, a boy of three sat wide-eyed, completely still, listening. Not to music, not to cartoons, but to the language of birds. In that moment, something unspoken passed between him and the world, a connection that would shape his life.

By seven, Siddhanth’s fascination had grown into remarkable knowledge. He could recite nearly forty bird species names in Tamil. On his school’s Annual Day, he was handed a microphone for the first time, and he confidently listed them on stage, leaving the audience in awe. That day didn’t just showcase talent; it revealed his calling.

In 2023, a family trip to Nagarahole Tiger Reserve became a turning point. Given a simple Canon camera, Siddhanth clicked his first wildlife photo. That single shot ignited a passion that would only grow. Upgrading to a Sony Alpha with a Tamron lens, he began capturing birds in breathtaking detail, each photograph telling a story of patience, respect, and love for nature.

February 2025 marked the official start of his birding journey. Weekends, school holidays, and early mornings, Siddhanth never missed documenting sightings or submitting checklists on eBird.org. By the end of the year, he had recorded over 200 species and became one of the Top 3 birders in Chengalpattu, a remarkable feat for his age.

At 13, Siddhanth shares his photographs on Instagram, pairing them with messages about bird conservation. His dream is clear: to become a renowned wildlife photographer and conservationist.

What makes Siddhanth extraordinary is not just the birds he photographs, but the message he carries for young minds: that passion, patience, and love for the world can turn a single moment of wonder into a lifelong journey.

One bird, one morning, one photograph at a time, he is showing the world that even the smallest hearts can make the biggest difference.
