From Lucknow Scribbles to Global Galleries – Dr Tumpa’s Artistic Journey

In Lucknow, India, a young girl named Tumpa spent hours lost in her imagination, where colours spoke louder than words and every sketch held a story. Though she later built a successful corporate career, a quiet yet persistent calling always pulled her toward art, urging her to create, express, and inspire.

Born in 1979, Tumpa’s early fascination with human expressions and nature laid the foundation for a lifelong creative journey. Initially self-taught, she pursued formal education with dedication, earning a Ph.D. in Modern and Contemporary Art, alongside degrees in English literature, fashion design, education, and business administration. Her academic versatility mirrors the depth and nuance seen in her work.

Tumpa’s paintings are vibrant, emotion-driven landscapes blending abstraction with texture, often using dripping and splattering techniques to evoke motion and feeling. Acrylics, her medium of choice, allow her to explore depth and spontaneity, inviting viewers to interpret each piece personally. Her debut work, The Chaos, Life’s Journey, marked the beginning of a career that soon gained international acclaim.

Her artwork has been exhibited across UNESCO Greece, Germany, Russia, Austria, Zurich, Georgia, Italy, Japan, Nepal, India, Malaysia, Spain, and the Netherlands. In the UAE, her workshops and community initiatives have established her as a cultural influencer. Beyond galleries, she empowers special needs and autistic children, using art as a bridge for expression and inclusion.

In 2025, Dr Tumpa was recognised as the Global Woman of Influence, International Contemporary Art Icon, and UAE Icon, Best Influencer Contemporary Artist, celebrating her impact in arts and community. From corporate certainty to the uncertainty of the canvas, her journey exemplifies courage, authenticity, and the transformative power of following one’s passion, proving that true fulfilment lies where purpose and creativity meet.
