The Storyteller Who Left Corporate Life to Amplify People’s Voices – Sanish Bhaskaran

In the small town of Kunnamkulam in Kerala’s Thrissur district, a young boy grew up watching advertisements with the same excitement most kids reserved for their favourite TV shows. That boy, Sanish Bhaskaran, was captivated by how just 30 seconds of emotion, music, and words could move hearts. What began as childhood curiosity slowly became his lifelong calling to tell stories that matter.

After completing a degree in business management, Sanish began his career as a copywriter, connecting ideas with emotion. He later completed an MBA from Cochin University of Science and Technology and spent over 15 years in communications, until his passion for storytelling drew him back to his true purpose.

In 2021, he took a leap of faith, leaving his corporate job to follow his passion. His observation of the frequent stereotypes and misrepresentations of Malayalis in mainstream media and cinema gave birth to the idea. Sanish wanted to change that narrative. He also realised that many inspiring stories, especially those of senior citizens and everyday individuals, rarely reached the public eye. This realisation gave birth to AKA Malayali, a video series that celebrates the extraordinary lives of ordinary people.

Each episode is deeply personal. Sanish meets every individual, listens to their journey, and crafts every frame with care. For him, the reward lies not in views or likes but in the difference his stories make. When AKA Malayali featured Ratnam Teacher, a woman paralysed by polio, her long-time dream of owning a motorised wheelchair came true after a kind-hearted couple stepped forward to help.

For Sanish, storytelling is not a profession; it’s a form of service. He believes people often magnify their problems until they hear others’ stories. To him, happiness is a choice, and making a difference doesn’t require grand gestures, only small acts of care and genuine intent.

Through his stories, Sanish reminds us that change doesn’t begin in boardrooms or governments. Change starts when an individual chooses to listen, care, and speak the truth. And sometimes, that’s all it takes to spark a revolution of hope.
