The IT Professional Who Followed Light and Found Herself – Manasa Rangan

In the quiet lanes of Srirangam, where temple bells echo and sunlight spills across ancient stones, a young girl named Manasa Rangan lifted a simple digital camera and unknowingly began framing her destiny.

She wasn’t trained, just curious. Appointed as her school’s Photography Minister, Manasa discovered that photography wasn’t just about capturing images; it was about capturing emotion, light, and life itself.

Years later, while many followed conventional paths, she walked two worlds: IT by profession and photography by passion. When a DSLR felt distant, she didn’t wait; she learnt using a friend’s camera, practising every click, every setting, until her vision took shape. Her phone became her first studio, and every temple visit, festival, and fleeting moment became a lesson in patience, angles, and the magic of light.

Srirangam, with its towering gopurams and vibrant rituals, gave her both inspiration and focus. She didn’t just photograph architecture; she captured spirit, devotion in motion, colours in celebration, and faces in quiet prayer.

In 2019, Manasa bought her first camera. The pandemic that followed didn’t halt her; it became her classroom. YouTube taught her technique, experimentation honed her skill, and patience transformed her vision.

Recognition followed. Her work was featured in Vikatan Magazine, National Geographic, and Asian Photography Magazine, and she even won the OnePlus Shot of the Month. Each accolade affirmed that passion and perseverance could transform a hobby into a calling.

Today, every shutter click for Manasa is a meditation. Photography, for her, is not just about capturing moments; it is about honouring them, seeing what others overlook, and framing life in its most fleeting, beautiful form.
